Volunteer Railroaders Association on the web

— we've come a long way since 1998!

Why the change? Our train ride customers, aka today's parents (aka 'Generation Y') are very mobile device (cell phone, iPad, etc) focused compared to us (the 'Baby Boomers') and our newer members, aka 'Generation X'.   Float over links for summaries.

Our event's advertising content has to reach all of Generation X and Generation Y. Many of these parents read/subscribe to our Blog feed and Twitter 'tweets' reading this news content on their mobile devices. Some parents do all their web usage on their mobile devices and don't even own a computer! The era of build a website and they will come has become passé for many of them.

Twitter
Twitter is great for posts like "Only a few Santa Train Ride tickets left, order now!", targeting those who've delayed ordering their tickets! Twitter 'tweets' are like doing multiple last minute updates on the VRA ticket hotline voicemail greeting.

Our Blog allow us to easily add, correct or expand VRA web content. Emails are posted in minutes! In 2010 the Blog became the primary locations for VRA news and our DIGEST newsletter.
